James Larry DeLoach, 87, of Temple, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. He was born on January 15, 1939, the son of the late William Bunyon DeLoach and the late Myrtie Rosetta Jackson DeLoach.
Larry lived a life marked by service, leadership, and devotion to those he loved. He was a retired member of the United States Navy and continued his commitment to public service in the years that followed. Larry served for many years as a Douglasville and Lithia Springs City Councilman, offering steady leadership to his community. He also served on the Military Academy Advisory Board after being appointed by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, a role that reflected the respect he earned through his experience and dedication.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Jonathon Wright; brothers, Charles DeLoach, Dorris DeLoach, and Kenneth DeLoach; sisters, Mozelle Johnson, Dorothy DeLoach, and Betty Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Ledbetter DeLoach; children, Caron and Keith Wright, Carla and Mike Brehmer , Jim and Tammy DeLoach; grandchildren, Christina and Micah Flores, Rebecca Wright, Brandon and Tacia Brehmer, Dusty Brehmer, Carley and Clayton Moore; Abigail DeLoach and Brannon Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Clara Flores, Camilla Flores, Jonah Flores, Skylar Wright, Jett Wright, Kaylin Anduze, Baileigh Brehmer, Logan Penny, Madelyn Penny, Aubrey Brehmer, Reagan Moore, and Ava Moore; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel with Pastor Larry Lowry and Pastor James Green officiating Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.
Above all, James Larry DeLoach, will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, Pawpaw, and family man. His life was defined not only by public service, but by the care and commitment he gave to his family and those closest to him. He will be remembered with gratitude and respect for a life of love, and lasting service.
Flowers are accepted; however, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation Research or Juvenile Diabetes Research.
