James Edward Shepherd

Mr. James Edward Shepherd, age 70, of Villa Rica, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019. He was born May 13, 1949 in Villa Rica the son of the late Mr. A. E. Shepherd and the late Mrs. Myrtle Mae Couch Shepherd. He loved to garden, enjoyed working on cars and was an all-around mechanic. Mr. Shepherd built custom cabinets for about 40 years. He loved his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Dewana Shepherd and Dean Smith of Temple, Melinda Thomas of Buchanan; sons, James Lamar Shepherd of Villa Rica, Ray Emory of Villa Rica; wife, Martha Southerland of Villa Rica; step-sons, Jerry Southerland, Patrick Southerland, and Chris Southerland; sisters, Rita Smith of Temple, Betty Lumpkin of Villa Rica, Durann Jarriel of Villa Rica; brothers, Bud Shepherd of Douglasville, Junior Shepherd of Villa Rica, Ronald Shepherd of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Michael, Cory, Jake, Kyle, Jessica, Stephanie and Meadow; great-grandchildren, Kason, S. J., Nevaeh, and Greyson; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 4:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Wilburn officiating.
