James Farris Richardson

Mr. James Farris Richardson, 74, of Richardson Road, Winston, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his residence. He was born March 30, 1936 in Winston, Georgia the son of the late James Harold Richardson and the late Mrs. Maggie Connell Richardson. He was fondly known by many as “the Mayor of Winston”, where he owned and operated Fairmart Store on Hwy 78 for 38 years, was a life-long member of Ephesus Baptist Church, where he was active in the Music and Sunday School department. He also sang in numerous Gospel Quartets including the Ephesians Five Quartet. He was a dedicated husband, father and loving Poppaw. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Reverend Arnall Richardson. Survivors include his wife, of 54 years Mrs. Myrtie Broome Richardson of Winston, 3 daughters and sons in law, Hope and Steve Redwine of Marietta, Anita and Richard Stone of Winston and Sandy and Darrin Overton of Villa Rica, one son, Former Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives Glenn Richardson of Hiram, 2 sisters, one brother-in law, one brother, and 2 sisters-in-law, Norma Foster of Marietta and Margaret and Wayne Morris of Perry, Franklin and Jackie Richardson of Villa Rica, Pat Richardson of Marietta, Grandchildren, Adam, Meghan, Caitlyn, Bryn, Will, Maggie, Andrew, Krista, Alex, Austin, Tyler and McLain, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM from Ephesus Baptist Church, Winston, Georgia with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating and Glenn Richardson speaking. Interment will follow in the Ephesus Cemetery with the following nephews serving as pallbearers: Kenny Foster, David Richardson, Eric Pointer, Marc Pointer, Tant Richardson and Toby Richardson. The family will receive visitors at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Wednesday, February 2, 2011 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ephesus Baptist Church Building Fund or Music Ministry, Post Office Box 280, Winston, Georgia 30187.
