James Alton Grantham

July 13, 1952 — July 19, 2023

James Alton Grantham, age 71, of Douglasville passed away on July 19, 2023, at the age of 71. James was born on July 13, 1952, in Cullman, Alabama. The son of late Mr. Willis Eugene Grantham and the late Mrs. Helen LaMurth Grantham. He was known for his kind heart and infectious laughter.

He is preceded in death by his son, Louie Grantham.

James had a long and fulfilling career as a construction worker. He took great pride in his work and always strived for excellence. 

Outside of work, James was a jokester who loved to make others laugh. His quick wit and clever sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. He had a knack for finding the lighter side of life and always had a joke ready to share. His laughter was contagious, and people couldn't help but smile when they were in his presence.

James was also a deeply religious man. He attended church regularly and actively participated in various religious activities. His spirituality gave him strength and guided him throughout his life. One of James' greatest pleasures in life was traveling. He loved exploring new places.

As a true southern boy, James had an appreciation for good southern cooking, and he savored every bite of a traditional southern meal. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends over delicious food, sharing stories and laughter that will forever be remembered.

James will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Susan "Susie" Grantham; sons, Stevie Jones, and Donnie Jones; sisters, Marianne, Diane, Reba, Cathy, Brenda, Rose, Vicky, and Ramona; and brothers, Larry, Freddie, Eddie, Robert, Ricky, and Dale; numerous nieces and nephews.

James Alton Grantham leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. His warm smile and caring nature touched the lives of many. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible life he lived. James will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will be remembered as a cherished friend and family member.

According to James' wishes he was cremated. No service planned at this time.
