Mr. James âJimâ Wilson Hannah, 84, of Winston, Georgia passed away Friday, October 20, 2017. A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, he was born June 30, 1933 the son of the late Mr. Vernie Wilson Hannah and the late Mrs. Mattie Clementine Hayes Hannah. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Riflemanâs Medal, and the Outstanding Basic Soldierâs Award. He placed in 1st and 2nd place in the AFFE Rifle Matches held in Matsushima Japan in May 1955. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Alabama where he studied at the Institute of Aeronautical Science and he was a member of the Academy of model Aeronautics in Washington, DC. He retired from Lockheed-Martin as an Aerodynamics Engineer. He received the Frank Brewer Award in 1952 for Contribution to Advancement of Aviation. His hobbies included electronics and model aviation. He was a member of Church on the Word. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenna M. Hannah; daughter, Suzanne Hannah Bell; brother, Calvin Hannah; and sister-in-law, Margie Cowman. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Hannah of Winston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda Hannah of Douglasville and Angel and Matthew Poole of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Connie Hannah of Cartersville; son-in-law, Oliver Bell of Adairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Lou DeLoach of Nashville, TN; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Howard of Phenix City, AL; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hannah of Tuscaloosa, AL and Marie McKittrick of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Neva Hall of Phenix City, AL and David and Shirley Hall of Phenix City, AL; seven grandchildren, Kurtis, Rachel, Natalie, Jeffery, Mackenzie, Meghan, and Olivia; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Memorial Services will be conducted Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor John Alexander officiating. Military Honors will be provided by members of the Ft. Benning U.S. Army Honor Guard.
