James Wendell Lowe

James Wendell Lowe, age 89, a beloved husband, father and minister, was called to his eternal rest on January 10, 2025, at his home in Douglasville, Georgia. He was born on September 29, 1935, in Slaton, Texas, to the late Mr. Taylor Jackson Lowe and the late Mrs. Velma Ruth Osburn Lowe. 

James led a life marked by dedication and love, serving as a minister from the age of 18 until his retirement, embodying the faith and compassion that defined his vocation.

With a Master's degree to his name, James dedicated himself not only to his spiritual calling but also to his family. He was a devoted husband to Mrs. Yvonne Lowe and a loving father, cherished by his children. His life was a testimony to the importance of faith, family, and community, and he touched the lives of many through his ministry.

James was known for his engaging and fun-loving personality. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, offering warmth and understanding to all who crossed his path. His interests included traveling, carpentry, and painting, showcasing his creative spirit and zest for life.

Throughout his years, James demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his loved ones, with his relationship of 72 years with Mrs. Yvonne being his proudest accomplishment. Together, they created a legacy of love and support that will be remembered by family and friends alike.

As we gather to remember James Wendell Lowe, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by compassion, dedication, and an enduring love for his family and faith. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Elwood Lowe and Theodore “Jack” Lowe.

He is survived by his son, Gary Lowe and his wife Sherry; daughters, Sharron Church and her husband John, Dr. Janice Abraham and her husband Alex; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. James Lowe was cremated. His family will plan a private celebration of life at a later date.
