James Mezick

Mr. James William Mezick, 71, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice following an extended illness. He was born October 10, 1944 in LaGrange, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Willie Joe “Jack” Mezick and the late Mrs. Mary Christine Smith Littlefield. He married Linda Defnall on June 17, 1965 in Wedowee, Alabama. He worked as an automobile mechanic and was of the Baptist Faith. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love for fishing and hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wiley Mezick. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Defnall Mezick of Douglasville; two sons, Kenneth Mezick and Jeffery Mezick, one grandson, Justin Mezick all of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Smith of Talladega, AL; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda Mezick of LaGrange and Steve Mezick LaGrange; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Virgil Smith officiating.
