James O'Hara Shannon

Mr. James O’Hara Shannon, 64, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. He was born April 14, 1942 in Muscogee County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. William Allen Shannon and the late Mrs. Matilda Naomi Fields Shannon. Mr. Shannon was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Douglasville, Georgia. He worked as a courier for West Georgia Family Medical. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by his brothers, William Thomas Shannon, Joseph Robert Shannon and Fredrick Allen Shannon. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hattie Summerville Shannon of Villa Rica; his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Shannon of Villa Rica; Marcus Allen Shannon of Villa Rica, Jason and Emily McElroy of Villa Rica, Todd and Heather McElroy of Douglasville; Sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Ed Dill of Villa Rica and Dorothy and Noel Daniel of Villa Rica; 3 grandchildren, Conner McElroy, Logan McElroy and Alayna McElroy; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 2:00 PM from St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Douglasville, Georgia with Father Richard Tibbetts officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery in Winston, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends in the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Thursday, November 2, 2006 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
