Mr. James Ronald âRonnieâ Burns, age 64, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010 at his residence. He was born December 20, 1945 in Rome, Georgia the son of the late Mr. James Burns and the late Mrs. Carrie Shannon Burns. He married Karen Shipley on March 16, 1968 in Ringgold, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired from Lathem Time Corporation as a machinist. Mr. Burns was of the Baptist Faith. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, camping and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 51 and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in East Point. He was devoted to his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen Shipley Burns of Atlanta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Vell Young of Douglasville; and Debra and Scott Anderson of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Marie and Gary Scates of Soddy Daisy, TN; 5 grandchildren, Justin Anderson, Vell Young, Jr., Cassie Young, Madison Anderson and Hayden Anderson; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Benson and Rev. Ronald Zant officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
