James Robert Thomason, Jr., age 41, affectionately known as Robbie, passed away on October 18, 2024. He was born on January 25, 1983, in Austell, Georgia, to Mrs. Nancy Carol Elbon-Rollins and Mr. James Robert Thomason, Sr.
His brief but vibrant life was a kaleidoscope of creativity, love, and laughter that inspired those who had the privilege to know him. Robbie was a multifaceted artist whose talents ranged from music to photography. Throughout his life, Robbie was recognized in many ways for his artistic abilities... receiving numerous awards for his drawings, his music, and his photography, each showcasing his creativity and imagination. He was an award winning sketch artist and published photographer, with his work exhibited and sold through the High Museum of Art. Though Robbie's biggest passion, and most loved artistic ability was in his music. Robbie was a talented song writer and recording artist. With his songs produced and recorded at Block Entertainment & Meticulous Sound studios both located here in Atlanta. Robbie's artistic spirit shone bright through everything he touched, even singing at church and simply to family & friends. He embodied the ability to "make something out of nothing," reminding everyone that beauty could be found in the simplest of things.
Those who knew Robbie will forever cherish his playful personality. He was a free spirit, a jokester at heart, always ready with a smile. His openness made him an approachable friend to many, while his selfless and giving nature left a lasting impact on both family and friends. Children were particularly drawn to him; as he had a unique gift for connecting with them, nurturing their creativity and imagination just as he nurtured his own. Always ready and willing to put everything aside to just play.
In addition to his parents, Robbie is survived by his siblings, Angela (Michael) Beckmann, Alicia (Kevin) Bell, Kimberly (Matt) Vaughn, TJ (Ariel) Lee, Brandon (Savannah) Lee, Kirsten (Cody) Green, Camryn Giddens, Orion Crook; nieces and nephews, Jamie (Sophia) Moon, Aidia, Kristen, Melenia, Landon, Mason, Emma, Timothy Jr., Cole, Jaxson, Xander, Wesley, Conner, Graciee, Mike, Kaleigh, Aubrey, Khloe, Gage. & great-niece, Ms. Mabel.
In accordance with his wishes, Robbie was cremated. A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Georgia.
