James Whitfield

James (Jim) Roland Whitfield was born in Atlanta, GA on July 3, 1937. He is preceded in death by his parents, R. A. and Alvie Whitfield and sister, Jackie Wilbanks. Jim worked with his father at R. A. Whitfield Manufacturing Company building forestry equipment and became the President/Owner in 1981. Jim married Margaret Evelyn Godfrey on November 8, 1980 and they made their home in Douglasville, GA. He was an active member and past Master of the Mableton (Adams) Masonic Lodge #171. He had a passion for helping others and he and Evelyn often hosted fish fry’s for all the local law enforcement officers, firefighters, and his customers. Jim never met a stranger and always enjoyed getting to know people and making friends. Jim and Evelyn retired to their home on Lake Buckhorn in Temple, GA. Jimmy is survived by his children: Terry Whitfield, Dennis (Lisa) Whitfield, Michael (Tiffany) Whitfield, Toni (Ross) Evans, Medea Callahan, Blaine (Nicole) Hirst, Kim (Chris) Ellis and former daughter-in-law, Donna Whitfield.His Grand-Children: Justin Horton, Tyler Whitfield, Devin Whitfield, Erin Whitfield, Mallory Whitfield, Dylan Whitfield, Addy Miller, Caleb Evans, Carmen Bush, Candace Donaldson, Rick Callahan, Alyssa Callahan, Rachel Colavito, Sarah Quinn, Tyler Hirst, Justin Ellis, and Jamie Lee and 12 great grandchildren.The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Friday, June 23, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.
