James “Jim” Clarence Yoak, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose kindness, humor, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Born on May 23, 1942 in Conneaut, Ohio, Jim was the son of the late Clarence Yoak and Ann Elizabeth Kazee. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a long career w/ the United States Postal Service.
Jim was known for his creativity, mechanical talents, and willingness to help others. He enjoyed building unique yard sculptures that brought smiles to friends and neighbors alike. A skilled mechanic and electrician, Jim especially loved teaching and sharing his knowledge w/ his family. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Gramps,” a title he carried proudly.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Yoak, and sister, Edith Hill.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Janet Yoak; his children, Tim Yoak (Cathy) and Lisa Cone; and his stepchildren, Rick Wittenbrook (Lisa), Bill Wittenbrook (Ruth), Karen Miller (Aaron), and Diane Ashley. He was also blessed w/ 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Jim is further survived by his brother, Chuck Yoak (Beth), along w/ numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on June 6, 2026 at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 618 Acworth Due West Rd NW, Kennesaw, GA 30152.
