James"Lewis" Tyson

Mr. James "Lewis" Tyson, age 88, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012. He was born February 28, 1924 in Villa Rica, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Thomas Watson Tyson and the late Mrs. Luella Timmons Tyson. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. He retired as a mechanic with Delta Airlines. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Lea Tyson Smith and her husband Frank Smith of Loganville, Teresa Lynn Tyson Allen and her husband, Scott Palmour of Covington, Louise Shaw and Susanne Scott both of Florida; sons and daughter-in-law, Reggie Rose of Atlanta and Terry and Ann Shaw of Atlanta; sisters, Marie Daniel, Marion Norton, and Helen Weems; brothers, Marvin Tyson, Herman Tyson, Kenny Tyson and Hubert Tyson all of Douglasville; four grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Matthew Smith, Bryan Allen, and Robert Palmour; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 12:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Dr. James Harper and Rev. Jane Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Wesley Smith, Matthew Smith, Bryan Allen, Robert Palmour. Honorary pallbearer will be his sons, Reggie Rose and Terry Shaw. A Celebration of Life and a time of fellowship will be held on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 9190 Campbellton Street, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
