Mrs. Jane Ellen Brown Reed, 71, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, formerly a longtime resident of Hamilton, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016. She was born August 16, 1944 in New York, NY the daughter of the late Mr. Robert Brown and the late Mrs. Marjorie Hoover Brown. She graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelors of Arts. She was a dedicated teacher, teaching English and Drama for 20 years at Trenton Central High School in New Jersey and then at Douglas County High School in Douglasville, Georgia until she retired. Her love of the arts, drama, and music was shared with each of her students. She also enjoyed volunteering for many productions. She loved the beach and traveling with her husband, William Reed, Sr. She collected spoons and plates from their many trips. She was an active volunteer at the Veterans Administration in Carrollton and served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for Amvets, Post 118 in Lithia Springs. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a true friend. She is survived by her husband, William Reed, Sr. of Lithia Springs; her three children and their spouses, Bill Reed, Jr. and his wife, Elaine of Douglasville, John Reed and his wife, Mia of New Paltz, NY, and Amy Westmoreland of Lithia Springs; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Brian Bowler of Lancaster, CA, Elizabeth Shemeley and Brian Freeman of Brielle, NJ, and Barbara and Gary James of Bristol, VT; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Reed of Jacksonville, FL, Parker Jane Reed of New Paltz, NY, Tierney Reed of New Paltz, NY, and Lily Westmoreland of Lithia Springs, GA; her lifelong best friend, Joan Burr of Hamilton, NJ; numerous special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews also survive. According to her wishes, Mrs. Reed was cremated. A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
