Mrs. Janice Faye Sticher Thompson, age 71 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 6, 1948 in Villa Rica, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. James Paskel Sticher and the late Mrs. Eva Butler Sticher. Janice was devoted to her family and loved spending time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom referred to her as Nana. Mrs. Janice faithfully attended Union Grove Christian Church, where she was the church pianist for 60 years. She graduated college at Atlanta Christian College. She was a teacher at South Douglas Elementary, where she retired after 22 years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by sisters, Margie Davis, Ruby Sheppard, and Martha Garner. Mrs. Thompson is survived by husband of 46 years, William Thompson of Douglasville, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Chris Clark of Spring Hill, Tennessee; sons, Jamie Thompson of Douglasville, Georgia, Kevin Thompson of Douglasville, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Stanley Camp of Douglasville, Georgia; brother-in-law, Morris Garner of Clewiston, Florida; eight grandchildren, Chasidy, Destiny, Haley, Addison, Jackson, Colson, Crystal and Phenix; three great grandchildren, loving friend, Susan Barr; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 12:00 PM from Union Grove Christian Church with Rev. Mike Mallory officiating. She will lie in state from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Union Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
