Mrs. Janie Mae Brown Turner, age 69, of Winston, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020. She was born August 28, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the middle child of three, to the late Willie C. Brown and the late Lillie Mae Davis Brown, with her two sisters, Georgia Mae Brown and Emmer Jean Childs. Janie confessed hope in Christ at Mount Gilead Baptist Church at 561 Spencer Street in Atlanta, Georgia. After attending Davie T. Howard High School, Janie worked for over 20 years at Atlanta Medical. She loved traveling, cooking and music, all of which helped shape her into the special person that we all have known and loved.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her sister, Georgia Brown.
Mrs. Turner is survived by husband of 19 years, Calvin F. Turner, Sr. of Winston; her sister, Emma Jean Childs; two sons, Robert Taylor, Grady Taylor; her daughter, Shequondria Turner; extended family, Troy Turner, Calvin Turner, Jr., Kelsey Turner, Kolette Marcelle Cooksey, Theresa Reeves and Charles Pittman; as well as numerous other adopted sons and daughters; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
According to Mrs. Turner's wishes, she will be cremated. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville, Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12:00PM until 1:00PM. A Memorial Service celebrating Janie's life will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 AT 1:00PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn, Douglasville with Elder Felicia Morris officiating.
