J.C. Cobb

Mr. J.C. Cobb, age 77, of Banks Mill Road, Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice. He was born April 3, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Jesse Edward Cobb and the late Mrs. Nettie Newton Cobb. He married Annah Aderhold on April 3, 1949 in Atlanta. He was a devoted member of West Metro Church of God where he served as a trustee and on the Pastor’s Board of Counsel. He worked as a truck driver for over 40 years having worked for Southern States Chemical Company then Thompson Haywood, and retired from Harcros Chemical Company. Mr. Cobb was a loving Christian man who loved the Lord, his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was a friend to all who knew him and he had a great smile. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Ricky Thomas and his brothers, Granville Cobb and Lowell Cobb. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Annah Aderhold Cobb of Douglasville; his daughters and son-in-law, Janice and Jerry Allen of Winston and Alice Cobb of Powder Springs; twin sisters, Eloise McCabe of Paulding County and Louise Parsons of Cartersville; one brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Ann Cobb of Smyrna; grandchildren, Russell and Mayra Thomas of Woodstock, Nathan Allen of Lawrenceville, and Maria Allen of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Terry Thomas and Scarlett Thomas; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Rountree officiating. Musical selections of “It is Well With My Soul”, “I Can Only Imagine”, and The King is Coming” will be rendered by Mr. Phillip Looney. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery on Post Road in Winston with the following serving as pallbearers: Owen Long, Marvin Holland, Richard Williams, Joe Gordon, Max Holland, and Winfred Cooper. Honorary escort will be members of the Pastor’s Board of Counsel. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
