Mr. J.C. Cox, 89, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, August 29, 2005 at his residence. He was born February 28, 1916 in Glenwood, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Joe Cox and the late Mrs. Lillian Sheppard Cox. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Atlanta. He married W. Myrl Meeks on May 18, 1942 in Soperton, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated Cox Floor Finishing. He enjoyed camping and Nascar racing. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Myrl Meeks Cox of Douglasville; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Cecil Harvey of Douglasville; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Gayle Cox of Lithia Springs; one brother, Alfred Cox of Savannah; 5 grandchildren, Derrick Cox, Shawn Cox, Shay Harvey, Melissa Harvey, and Jeremy Harvey; 4 great grandchildren, Kayla, Dana, Erin and Jordan; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta with Rev. William G. Thomason officiating. Entombment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
