Mrs. Jeanell Grogan Massey of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. She was born January 10, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Burtz Grogan and the late Mrs. Billie Hightower Grogan. She married William Mayes Massey, Sr. on October 26, 1946. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was a retired supervisor for The Lovable Company. Mrs. Massey was an avid Braves baseball fan, enjoyed reading, sewing, and crocheting. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mr. William Mayes Massey, Sr.; and sister, Imogene Dodgen. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Bush and Ivy Bramlett both of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Brenda Massey of Douglasville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Mayes and Delena Massey, Marty and Dawn Massey, Mark Massey, Benjamin and Callie Ridgeway and Jessica Bush; seven great-grandchildren, Kristen Massey, Kaitlyn Massey, Kali Massey, Mason Massey, Lexie Massey, Faith Massey, and Love Ridgeway; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Dr. John Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Mayes Massey, Marty Massey, Mason Massey, Ben Ridgeway, Hal Dodgen and Jack Landers. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
