Jerry Dixon

Mr. Jerry Phillip Dixon, 85, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born August 1, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. A.Z. Dixon and the late Mrs. Leila Olivia Johnson Dixon Arrington. He was a veteran of the United States Navy Reserves. He married Joan Elaine Johnson on June 19, 1971 in Smyrna. He worked in sales and marketing at Simmons Company of Atlanta for many years. After retiring, he worked at Blaylock Machine Company for a short time. He was a member of Westside Worship Center. He loved the beach, fishing, and traveling. He loved football and was a fan of the Atlanta Falcons, the Georgia Bulldogs, and Georgia Tech. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Aaron Dixon and Virlyn Dixon. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan Elaine Johnson Dixon of Douglasville; son, Larry Phillip Dixon of Lithia Springs; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 13, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Don Johnson officiating.
