Jewell Wilkins

Mrs. Jewell Barber Wilkins, age 97, of Villa Rica, passed away Monday, June 04, 2012 at her residence. She was born September 14, 1914 in Paulding County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Daniel Richard Barber and the late Mrs. Odessa Dukes Barber. She worked from the age of fourteen at the Villa Rica Hosiery Mill until she retired after fifty-six years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Everette Wilkins; granddaughter, Tara Wix Green and son-in-law, Rev. Bud Wix; step mother, Pearl Rainwater Barber, brothers, Clarence Barber, Lovie Barber, Claudis Barber; step brothers, Rev. Guy Rainwater, Waldon Rainwater, James Rainwater; step sister, Lois Orton. She was survived by her daughter, Barbara “Sue” Wix of Villa Rica; grandson, Timothy Wix of Villa Rica; two great-grandchildren, Nikki Bedingfield of Villa Rica, Meggan Sego of Rockmart; one great-great grandchild, Ansley Bright of Rockmart. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM from Gospel Time Baptist Church . Interment will follow in Melrose Hills Memorial Gardens.
