Jimmie Lee Gilbert

Jimmie Lee Gilbert, 85, of Douglasville, GA, (born and raised in Philadelphia, Mississippi), passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. He was born on November 4, 1938, the son of the late Ethel Dewitt (E.D.) Gilbert and Mabel Christine Nicholson.

Jimmie loved his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his life. His hobbies included fishing, watching NASCAR and football. He was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and Ole Miss Rebels. Jimmie was a proud US Navy Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Barrett; brothers, John Calvin Gilbert, George Gilbert and Freddie Keith Gilbert; sister, Eva D. Barrett.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Hai Thi Nguyen Gilbert; his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Scott Taylor of Springville, Alabama and Joni and Gary Moore of Kent, Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Kim Gilbert of Kingston, Georgia, Rickey and Lorena Gilbert of Orlando, Florida, and Stephen and Christina Gilbert of Douglasville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Linda Gilbert of Salem, Virginia; grandchildren, Shayna, Jimmie Rickey, Arie, Lexi, Zeke, Chloe, Mollie, Emma, Alex, Scotlyn, Elton, Rilley, and Colton; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many cousins also survive. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel. Entombment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park.
