Jimmy Wayne Perkins, 86, passed away on January 14, 2026, in Rome, Georgia. Born on April 29, 1939, in McComas, West Virginia to the late Woodrow Perkins and Mildred Tibbs Perkins. 

Throughout his esteemed career, he made significant contributions to the world of golf course design, leaving his mark on numerous landscapes through his thoughtful and creative approaches. His work was not only professional but a true reflection of his love for the outdoors and the game itself.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jimmy was a dedicated family man and an enthusiastic sports fan. He found joy in fishing and took pride in his yard work. An ardent supporter of the Atlanta Braves and a lover of both football and baseball, he was often seen cheering for his favorite teams with unmatched enthusiasm.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Amber Wells of Palmetto, Georgia, and his son, Tim (Penny) Perkins of Leesburg, Alabama. He will be missed dearly by his siblings: Joyce Carver and Jerry Perkins, both of West Virginia, and Tony (Gisela) Perkins from Buffalo, New York. His legacy continues through his four grandchildren, Tiffany (Rob) Morris, T.J. Perkins, Mitchell (Kayla) Eidson,  Nikki Eidson (Chris Davis) , seventeen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, who will remember him for the warmth and love he provided throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Perkins and his sisters, Christine Stables and Rosemary Perkins, each of whom played an important role in his life.

A Celebration of Life Gathering,  will be held on January 31, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Jones-Wynn - Douglas Chapel located at 2189 Midway Road, Douglasville, GA 30135. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor the life and legacy of a remarkable man whose impact on those around him will remain in their hearts forever.
