Joan Cheryl Sawyer

Joan Cheryl Sawyer, 83, loving mother and grandmother, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025. She was born in Denver, Colorado on September 18, 1941, the daughter of the late Anna Lucille Hoke Winklepleck and Milton Leroy Winklepleck. 

She was a wonderful person who was always prioritizing her family and their happiness. She was a talented artist who also enjoyed gardening, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and being in nature – especially near the ocean. 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Crow. 

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Withers; son, Steven “Steve” (Mary) Sawyer; grandchildren, Brittany, Bret, William, Justin, Melissa (Kenneth); great grandchildren, Sadie, Everett, Madison; sister, Debra Jennings, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.

In accordance with her wishes, Ms. Joan Cheryl Sawyer was cremated and her family held a private celebration of life service.
