Joan Delores Sweat

Joan Delores Blair Seals Sweat, 80, of Villa Rica, passed away on Tuesday, July, 22, 2025. She was born on June 17, 1945, the daughter of the late Hershel Blair and the late Doris Adams Blair.

Joan was a cherished soul, known for her kindness and compassion, not only towards her family but to everyone she met. Her unwavering faith in the Lord guided her throughout her life, and she dedicated much of her time to her beloved Gateway Baptist Church.

At Gateway Baptist Church, Joan actively involved in the food share ministry, where she worked tirelessly to help those in need. Her generous spirit and desire to lend a helping hand left a lasting impact on many lives. Joan found joy in these acts of service, staying true to her belief that love and kindness could transform even the toughest of circumstances.

Traveling was another passion of Joan's, with memorable trips to Pigeon Forge holding a special place in her heart. These adventures were not just about the places she visited, but the moments shared and the memories created along the way.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Hoyt Jesse Seals; husband; David Mitchel Sweat and son, Richard Gary Seals.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Short; son, Dan Seals of Powder Springs, GA; sister, Joyce McCullough (Dennis) of Villa Rica, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Ken Blair and Ann Blair; five grand-daughters; several great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be conducted by Rev. Josh Agan and Rev. Jeff Byrd on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Gateway Baptist Church of Villa Rica.

Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the rich legacy of love, faith, and community she leaves behind. Joan will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose life was a testament to the power of kindness and community spirit.
