Mr. John Marvin Bentley, age 72, of Villa Rica, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013. He was born February 12, 1941 in Atlanta the son of the late Mr. Thomas Edward Bentley and the late Mrs. Emily Nell Rainwater Bentley. In his early career was a teacher with the Paulding County School System. He retired from Georgia Department of Transportation after many years. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica and has served as a Deacon since 1983. John served on several church committees, including serving as a Sunday School Teacher of the Fellowship Class. He was a member of the of Villa Rica Lodge #72 F&AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Bentley Taylor and brother-in-law, Hershel Parmer. He is survived by his sister, Tillie Parmer of Roopville; brother-in-law, Bill Taylor of Villa Rica; nieces and nephews, Amy and Jack Clower of Villa Rica, Ashley and Alicia Taylor of Smyrna, Kinney and Connie Taylor of Villa Rica, Brad and Jill Taylor of Marietta, Bill Parmer and Stan Brooks of Atlanta and Tom and Linda Parmer of Carrollton; six great nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, June 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
