John Elliott Oliver of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2020. John was born at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to Hugh and Ruby Oliver. John spent his childhood in Jacksonville Beach, Florida graduating from Fletcher High School in 1966. John played many roles in life starting as a musician and golf professional, then onto Seaboard Coastline Railroad, real estate sales, over the road truck driver and most recently a school bus driver for Douglas County. John was full of laughter, a consummate entertainer and ready with a quick joke or witty comment for his friends. He was a great teacher to his friends and children of his two loves; bluegrass music and golf. John is survived by his wife Kay of Douglasville, his daughter Jennifer (Russell) Hawkins of Fernandina Beach, Florida, his son Travis (Sarah) Oliver of San Diego, California, his brother Skip, sisters Kay Majure and Carol Pineda of Jacksonville, Florida, granddaughter Delaney Hawkins and grandsons Mitch Hawkins and Taylor Oliver.
A socially distant celebration of life service is planned for 11am on November 20th outdoors at Hunter Memorial Park near the Sports Fields.
