John Harris

Mr. John Calvin Harris, age 78 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019. He was born July 14, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Howard Harp Harris and the late Mrs. Florence Miller Harris. Mr. Harris was a purchasing manager for Selig Chemicals. He was a devoted and dedicated Free Mason and member of Old Campbellton Lodge #76, and a member of Yaarab Shrine. Mr. Harris served in the United States Navy where he was a torpedo man’s mate and then a member of the Basic Underwater Demolition Team, which later became known as the Navy Seals. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Debi Harris of Douglasville, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Yvette and David Calhoun of Dallas, Georgia; son, John Noah Harris of Powder Springs, Georgia; one grandchild, Chris Calhoun. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville with Mr. Eddie Chatham officiating. the family asks in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children in his name.
