John Hembree

August 6, 1947 — November 5, 2018

Mr. John “Tim” Timothy Hembree, age 71, of Villa Rica, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018. Born August 6, 1947 to the late Hugh Dorsey and Lennie Fae Mayfield Hembree, Tim was one of eleven children. He was a native of Carroll County, and a member of the Villa Rica High Class of 1966. After graduation, he attended Marietta-Cobb Vocational Technical School, graduating in June of 1967 with a degree in Technical Design and Drafting. He was drafted into the Army, becoming a member of the 4th Infantry Division and served during the Vietnam conflict 1968-1971. While in Vietnam he was a Chemical Staff Specialist, which duties included the mixing and spraying chemicals such as Agent Orange. Tim was also a sharpshooter and an expert flamethrower. He was awarded two (2) Air Metals and the Army Accommodation Metal for Heroism. When he returned to civilian life, he married his lifelong love and soul mate, Nadine Woods on September 14, 1975. He was a master carpenter, co-owner of Hembree Brothers Construction for a number of years; working a total of 50 years in construction; commercial and residential and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union, Local 225.He was a participant in the Peachtree Road Race, Peachtree City 9 mile race, and many others for many years. He was a good cook, and enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and traveling with all his special friends. He and Nadine spent their 41st anniversary in Hawaii. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Villa Rica and a member of the Helping Hands Sunday School. He was born and raised in Flat Rock Community and also attended Flat Rock Baptist Church for most of his life. He was saved at the Shiloh Youth Camp. Those that knew him well enjoyed his dry sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Virgil Hembree and a sister Rudine Hembree Hunter. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Nadine Woods Hembree, their children, Shelly Hembree Ward and Bo Hembree; his siblings, Stanley Hembree of Buchanan, Malinda Hembree and Lemuel Camp, Lamar and Peggy Hembree, both of Villa Rica, Bobby and Gloria Hembree of Beverly Hills, Florida, Vicky Hembree Caldwell of Temple, Cindy Hembree and Rusty Samples of Sandhill and Gail Hembree McGee of Carrollton; sister-in-laws, Margaret Hembree Gallman and Janie Hembree; grandchildren Shelby and Skylar Ward, Jayden Hembree and Hadley Hembree and many extended family members and lifelong friends. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Williams, Dr. Jerry Brown, and Rev. Ronnie Puckett officiating. Interment will follow at Glenn Memorial Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers, Neal Gilland, Mark Dorough, Barry Boyd, Robie Hembree, Allen Tyson, and Burl Smith.
