John "Horace" Morris

Mr. John “Horace” Morris of Douglasville, age 82, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Higgins General Hospital. He was born July 23, 1927 the son of the late Mr. Robert Edward Lee Morris and Mrs. Mattie Lou Bishop Morris. He worked for Nabisco Company for forty-two years. He loved fishing, hunting, being outdoors and most of all his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son John H. Morris, Jr. and two brothers Edgar Morris, Alfred Morris, and one sister Cleophus Hendrix. . He is survived by his loving wife Mary Frances Davis Morris whom he married on January 31, 2010; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Ronny Little of Powder Springs; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Edwin Morris, Sr. of Douglasville, Herman Gerald and Cathy Morris of Woodland, Anthony H. and Sandra Morris of Kennesaw, Tony Barber of Whitesburg; step-daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Greg Folds of Bremen; sisters, Ruby Newell of Douglasville, twin sister Doris Fortner of Carrollton, Mary Nell Jenkins of Buchanan; nineteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica, with Rev. James Massengill and Rev. Jason Hatchett officiating. Music will by Greg Folds. The following will serve as pallbearers, Joseph Morris, T.J. Barber, Steven Barber, Justin Summerville, Dustin Summerville, Josh Little, Sam Barber, and Larry Owens. Interment will follow at Douglas Chapel Church of God in Winston. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica, Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
