John Donald Jackson, Sr.

March 8, 1945 — February 16, 2024

Mr. John Donald Jackson, Sr., age 78, of Douglasville, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024. He was born March 8, 1945 in Atlanta to the late Mr. Reuben Andrew Jackson and the late Mrs. Nettie Elizabeth Jackson.

John's legacy extends beyond his years as he proudly served 27 years in the Army, eventually retiring with a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. His commitment to his country and fellow servicemen was unwavering, earning him the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of knowing him. John's love for his faith was evident in everything he did. He devoted much of his time to reading the Bible and serving as a door greeter at his church. In addition to his dedication to his faith, John had a passion for sports, particularly baseball. He could often be found cheering on his favorite teams or engaging in friendly discussions about the latest games. John's enthusiasm for sports brought joy to those around him and created many fond memories. One of John's simple pleasures in life was going to Chick-fil-A. During his time in the military and beyond, John found joy in bowling. Above all else, John valued his relationships with family and friends and was a devoted husband.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Jackson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Margarita G. Jackson of Douglasville; son, John Jackson, Jr. of Douglasville; grandchildren, Andrew Jackson and Allyson Jackson; several nieces and nephews.

We would like to invite his friends and family to the gathering at Chick-fil-A on Highway 5 on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

Messages of condolence may be sent to www.jones-wynn.com. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home and Crematory of Douglasville is in charge of the arrangements.
