John Manuel Moniz

John Manuel Moniz, age 69, of Temple, Georgia passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at his son’s residence in Douglasville, Georgia. He was born July 8, 1941 in Newport, Rhode Island the son of the late Mr. Manuel Moniz and the late Mrs. Mary Santos Moniz. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a bus driver for over 35 years for Bonanza Transportation Company. He was a gun collector and marksman. He was a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed time spent with his family. He is survived by daughters, Nancy Moniz and her partner, Liz Perry of Tiverton, RI; and Debbie Moniz Ferreira and her husband, Rick Ferreira of Fall River, MA; sons and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Shirley Moniz of Douglasville and Mark Moniz of Fall River, MA; brother and sister-in-law, Everett and Ann Moniz of Portsmouth, RI; step-daughter, Cheryl Peters of Scituate, RI; step-sons, Ronald Burge of Salem, MA, Robert Burge of Foster, RI. James Burge, of Foster, RI; 9 grandchildren; mothers of his children, Sandy Silvia and Claire Moniz; several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Services will be conducted Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 7:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Celebrant Glenn Gilmore officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In accordance to his wishes, his body was cremated.
