Mr. John Patrick Martin, age 50, of Villa Rica, passed away, Thursday, November 17, 2016. He was born September 7, 1966 in Birmingham, AL the son of the Mrs. Pat Jowers Johnson and the late Mr. Eugene Martin. Mr. Martin grew up in Irondale, AL. He obtained his undergraduate from Mobile College and received his masters from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Martin also attended Madison Area Technical College receiving a Computer Programming degree. He was a Youth Pastor in Minnetonka, Minnesota, an Associate Pastor at Midvale Baptist in Madison, Wisconsin and later became Pastor of Lakeview Christian Church in Madison, Wisconsin for thirteen years. He was currently a Software Developer for United Healthcare for nine years. Mr. Martin loved to travel, plan vacations, read, and cook. He was very proud of his Confederate Heritage and was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a very active member and Deacon at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Above all else John adored his wife and children. They were his pride and joy âthe apple of his eye, âand considered his greatest blessings next to his salvation through Jesus Christ.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Lorine Jowers and Shelton and Mentie Martin. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Abbott Martin of Villa Rica; mother, Pat Jowers Johnson of Irondale, AL; daughter, Hannah Howard of Atlanta; son, Charlie Howard of Villa Rica; sisters and brothers, Sheila Martin of Irondale, AL, Sallie and Jody Albus of Pell City, AL, Alan and Maria Johnson of Sunnyale, CA, Lauri DeCicco of California; Jerry and Kim Johnson of Atlanta, Brent Martin of Trussville, AL; fur babies, Rommell, R.J., Rosie, Nog, and Jericho; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. The family will receive friends at Flat Rock Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 3:00 PM from Flat Rock Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Brown officiating. Graveside Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM from Coosa Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow at Coosa Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
