Mr. John Huie âJ.H.â McKown, age 95, of Douglasville, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013. He was born July 29, 1917 in Clayton County, GA. the son of the late Mr. Curtis Hugh McKown, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ruby Coefield McKown. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served on the board of Deacons and taught Sunday School for many years and was also a Mason. He was a general contractor and built commercial and residential homes.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda McKown Connally; son, John H. McKown, Jr.; sisters, Lillian Rainwater, Eleanor Gilland and Mary Collins, and brother, Jack McKown.He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Mildred Walton McKown of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Bill Edwards, Dottie and Marion Yancey all of Douglasville, Cheryl and Keith Chandler of Cullman, AL; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Melanie McKown, Jerry and Sharon McKown all of Douglasville, Craig and Laura McKown of Tulsa, OK; brothers, Curtis and Judy McKown, Jr., Donald and Sandra McKown.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Larry Smith, Darlene and Harris Mann, Barbara Pair; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Beulah Baptist Church Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 12:30 PM until the funeral hour. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Bray, Dr. Danny Watters, and Rev. Talmadge Chandler officiating. Interment will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers accepted or a donation may be made to the Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 4031 Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
