Mr. John Henry Sherman, Jr., age 64, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. He was born June 23, 1948 in Highland Park, Michigan the son of Mrs. Eleanor Karschnick Sherman of Michigan and the late Mr. John Henry Sherman, Sr. He married Deborah Ann Hess Sherman on November 9, 1974 in Clarkston, Michigan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Douglasville. Mr. Sherman retired as a security screening officer with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) having worked at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for many years. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deborah Ann Hess Sherman of Douglasville; one daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne Sherman Roton and Emory Roton of Douglasville; his mother, Eleanor Sherman of Michigan; two sisters, Sheila Sherman of North Carolina and Sandra Sherman Oak and her husband, Bob of Michigan; three grandchildren, Lindsay Roton, Lauren Roton and Emory Roton; five nieces and one nephew also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Smith officiating. Musical selections will be provided by Vicki Lyons. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. The following will serve as pallbearers: Joe Darby, Daniel Joiner, Casey Malcome, Jason Fox, Billy Adair and Jesse Higgenbotham.
