John Ward

Mr. Thomas Verlon “John” Ward, 81, of Temple, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017. He was born October 4, 1935 in Carroll County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Thomas Winford Ward and the late Mrs. Irene Fields Ward. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He retired from Ford Motor Company following 28 years of service. After retiring, he enjoyed farming his land. He was an Emeritus member of the Villa Rica Masonic Lodge #72 F & AM. He was devoted to family, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Villa Rica and attended the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica where he was baptized. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon Ward and Velmon E. Ward. He is survived by his wife, Sue Spake Ward of Temple; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Jerry Parks of Temple and Susan and Mitchell Jiles of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Janet Ward of Villa Rica; sisters and a brother-in-law, Pat and Johnny Echols of Winston and Carolyn Ward Cheek of Winston; brother and sister-in-law, Bernon “Pete” and Brenda Ward of Winston; sister-in-law, Phyllis Ward of Winston; five grandchildren, Valerie McCullough, Tyler Ward, Brandon Pritchett, Richard Jiles, and Katie Hernandez; two step-grandchildren, Scott Pritchett and David Parks; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. Musical selection will be provided by Mr. Kelly McCord. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent at www.jones-wynn.com.
