Johnny Edwards

Mr. Johnny Allen Edwards, 74, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. He was born May 10, 1941 in Vienna, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. John Thomas Edwards and the late Mrs. Iris Alice Allen Edwards. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired as the part owner of D&J Bus Services. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed golf and was an avid fisherman, especially deep sea fishing. He was a devoted Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan. He enjoyed gardening and was a Christian by faith. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Melanie Edwards of Auburn, GA; four daughters and sons-in-law, Iresa and Robin Powell of Bowdon, Lynn and Stephen Brown of Temple, Holly Cook of Buckhead, and Joni Edwards and Craig Alexander of Knoxville, TN; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Daniel Gilliard and Dale and Wade Roberts all of Douglasville; brother, Tommy Edwards of Douglasville; nine grandchildren, Johnny, Christopher, Michael, Nicole, Jacob, Scotty, Christy, Amber and Justin; seven great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Daniel Wayne Wiley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville. The following will serve as pallbearers: Michael P. Mandall, Jr., Jacob Allen Mandall, Michael Scott Barnhill, Kevin Joseph Penny, Justin McAllister, and Marshall Craig Edwards, P.A.
