Johnny Lee Waddell, 88, born on April 10, 1937, in Haralson County, Georgia, to Roy Frank Waddell and Charlie Omega Pollard Waddell, passed away June 29, 2025, having touched the lives of many throughout his journey. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Johnny served his community diligently as a school bus driver for Temple Schools, where he created a welcoming environment for the children he transported. His warm personality meant he never met a stranger, and his great sense of humor brought joy to those around him. An avid lover of fishing and baseball, he was particularly fond of the Atlanta Braves, proudly cheering them on through every season.
A proud Army veteran, Johnny was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone, where he drove an equipment truck, showcasing his dedication and service to his country. His faith was evident as a member of the Villa Rica Church of Christ, where he found fellowship and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Deese Waddell of Bremen; daughter, Tammie (Brian) Mitcham of Bremen; and sister; JoAnn Forbus of Temple. Johnny’s heart truly belonged to his family; he adored his granddaughters, Macey (Corey) Hooten and Gracey Mitcham; two great grandchildren, Saylor & Bowen Hooten, who brought immense joy to his life.
He joins his brothers, James Waddell, R. C. Waddell, and William Waddell and his sister Frances Mote in eternal rest, leaving behind a family who will always remember his warmth and kindness.
Visitation services will be held at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home - Villa Rica Chapel, located at 306 Westview Drive, Villa Rica, GA, on July 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. His funeral will follow at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home - Villa Rica Chapel at 2:00 PM. Burial services will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, GA.
Johnny Lee Waddell will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the love he shared and the memories he created with all who were fortunate to know him.
