Rev. Johnny L. White, 78, of Winston, Georgia passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Atlanta Medical Center. A native of Douglasville, he was born June 13, 1935 the son of the late Mr. Lewiston White and the late Mrs. Adeline “Addie” Elizabeth Smith White. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Georgia National Guard Armory where he worked in maintenance. He served in the ministry for over 56 years. He began his service in the church at Friendship Baptist Church in Mableton. He went on to serve as Pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Winston, Welcome Baptist Church in Lithia Springs, Union Hill Baptist Church in Winston, and Liberty Baptist Church in Douglasville. He was a devoted man of God that loved serving his flock, neighbors, friends and family. He touched countless lives over the years by serving at many weddings and funerals. Brother Johnny was devoted to family. He was a longtime member of the Douglasville Masonic Lodge #289 F&AM. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Winston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sarah Louise Standridge White on October 17, 2007. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Ann and Russell Echols of Winston and Renae and Tim Garrison of Douglasville; sister, Juanita Adams of Douglasville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Folds Standridge of Lithia Springs, Charles and Marilyn Standridge of Anchorage, Alaska, James and Laura Standridge of Bakersfield, Oregon, and Larry and Bonnie Standridge of Douglasville; six grandchildren, Corey Echols, Lindsey Echols, Anna Echols, Beth and Jonathan Sinyard, Stacie Stamps-Rath, and Sam Stamps all of Douglas County; eight great-grandchildren, Colton Echols, Hunter Echols, Blake Glenn, Aiden Sinyard, Juliana Sinyard, Emma Rath, Wyatt Rath, and Sarah Rath all of Douglas County; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Friday, February 14, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church, 1651 S Burnt Hickory Rd, Douglasville, GA 30134 with Rev. Terry Marbut and Rev. Joey Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs with military honors provided by the United States Army Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Adams, Kent Adams, Chuck Standridge, Jason Johnson, Nathan Mitchell, and Steve Standridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Vince Adams and Matt Grey. Masonic Rites will be provided by members of the Douglasville Masonic Lodge #289 F&AM. Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions in memory of Brother Johnny White to the Calvary Children’s Home, 1430 Lost Mountain Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127.
