Mr. Jonathan Leroy Michael, age 89, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016. He was born May 22, 1927 in Mannington, West Virginia, the son of the late Mr. Jonathan Hugh Michael and the late Mrs. Nellie Kendall Michael. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. During World War II, he was an aid to General Clark. He retired as an Aerospace Engineer for Goodyear Aerospace. During his career he designed fuel cells for the Minuteman and Polaris Missiles. He had a love for sports, especially baseball and football. He was a golfer and enjoyed bowling. He was a member of the Douglasville Baptist Temple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Brown Michael; brother, Glen Michael; and great-grandchildren, Michael Van Camp and Chase Long. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Raymond Rainwater of Douglasville, Charlene and Larry Johnson of Douglasville, Debra and Keith Andrews of Denver, CO, and Marlene Van Camp of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, John Van Camp, Penelope Van Camp, Tommy Rainwater, Rustin Rainwater, Josh Johnson, Jake Johnson, Carly Gatny, and Stephanie Andrews; great-grandchildren, John Van Camp, Darrian Van Camp, Byron Van Camp, PFC Andrew Ross, Taylor Rainwater, Liberty Rainwater, Cole Rainwater, Eli Johnson, Bowen Johnson, Payton Johnson, and Braun Johnson; niece, Karen Mezzacapo; nephew, Gerard Michael. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, December 2, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Neal Beard officiating.
