Joseph Bedsole

Joseph Charles (Joe) Bedsole Jr of Douglasville GA, 68, passed away February 18, 2019. He was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, great friend, businessman and the life of the party. He will be missed dearly. Born in Albany, GA, he graduated from Albany High School in 1969, then attended Albany Junior College. After graduating AJC, he moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia State University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and earned a bachelor’s degree in business. Upon graduation, he moved to Douglasville, GA. to set up one of earliest agencies in the area, where he served the community for 42 years with State Farm Insurance. Joe was known as one of the most generous of men to all that knew him and was active in many organizations. His drive was second to none and “Big Joe” turned the impossible into possible for those he loved or those in need. He was an active member of the Midway United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends in Orange Beach, Alabama. He enjoyed fishing on his boat affectionally named the “War-Dawg” for his love of the Georgia Bulldogs and his fishing partner’s love for the lesser loved Auburn Tigers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Charles Bedsole, Sr. Helen Bedsole Mundy and sister Holly Bedsole Hudson. Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Kathy Maguire Bedsole, three children, Joe Bedsole lll, (Holly), Jill Bedsole Roberts (Jesse) and Jessica Bedsole Trowell (Thomas); grandchildren; Brianna and Collis Bedsole, Jace Smith, Jake, James and Jaxson Roberts. He is also survived by his sister, Betsy Bedsole Choate of Destin, FL, brother, Mike Bedsole (Edna) of Lawrenceville, GA, sister Susan Bedsole Causey (Mike) of Loganville, GA and brother- in-law, Harry Hudson of Duluth, GA. He is also lovingly remembered by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other close friends. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Friday, February 22, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Newman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the GA Transplant foundation (www.gatransplant.org); or Organ Donation www.organdonor.gov.
