Mr. Joseph Emsley Bettis, age 72, of Villa Rica, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was born August 7, 1942 in Atlanta the son of the late Mr. Byron Bettis and the late Mrs. Eunice Garner Bettis. In Mr. Bettisâ younger career he was a messenger for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelorâs degree in engineering. Mr. Bettis retired from the City of Atlanta after thirty years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia FieldsHe is survived by his wife Sheila Tipton Bettis of Villa Rica; daughters, Cynthia Bettis of Atlanta, Johanna Bettis Patterson of Villa Rica, Shelby Vollrath of Douglasville; sister, Loretta McKenzie of Douglasville; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cook, Blake Vollrath and Elizabeth Vollrath; great grandchild, Serah Allgary. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Friday, January 16, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will conducted Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Cronin officiating.
