Mrs. Joyce Rutherford Murray, 77, of Sparta, Georgia, formerly of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America-Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Newnan following an extended illness. She was born March 6, 1937 in Mableton, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Pierce Rutherford and the late Mrs. Sarah Jane Stroud Landrum. She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper at the family business, Murray Chevron. She is survived by her husband, Roy Murray of Sparta; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Terrell Poole of Sparta; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Debbie Murray and Ronny and Tina Murray all of Douglasville; one sister, Carole McDuffie of Douglasville; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Reba Landrum of Winston, Robert and Carolyn Landrum of Mableton, Phillip and Judy Landrum of Douglasville, and Jimmy and Carlette Landrum of Winston; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Will and Trista Murray of Douglasville, Brooke and David Jaye of Douglasville, Stan and Sarah Murray of Buford, Brandi Cofer Freeman of Sparta, Trey Cofer of Sandy Springs, Chris Poole of Milledgeville, Wayne Murray, Wesley Murray and Autumn Murray; eight great-grandchildren, Addie Murray, Mackenzie Murray, Carolina Murray, Murray Jaye, Gage Freeman, Jace Cofer, Scout Murray, and Arya Murray; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Graveside Services will be conducted Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 3:30 PM at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville with Rev. Danny Wade officiating.
