Juana Velazquez, 98, born on February 17, 1927, to the late Jacinto Cruz and the late Fidencia Gonzalez, peacefully passed away at her residence on July 23, 2025. A cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, Juana’s life was a tapestry woven with love, creativity, and a deep commitment to family.

Juana dedicated much of her life to her craft as a seamstress, specializing in the creation of beautiful infant clothing. Her talent and artistry brought joy not only to her family but to many in her community. This passion for sewing was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her desire to comfort those around her. She also loved listening to music, singing, cooking and talking politics with her family. She was very outspoken and was a good story-teller that her family enjoyed. Her religious spirit and love for going to church was a very important part of her life. Her greatest passion was her love for her family and she took pride in being a house wife.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her dear brother, Luis Gonzalez. Her sisters; Conchita Malave, Irma Barreto and Tomassa Cruz.

Juana is survived by her loving children: Lourdes Lovejoy and her husband, Raynard Lovejoy of Douglasville, GA, and Carlos Velazquez of Brooklyn, NY. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Marcus Lovejoy, Emanuel Lovejoy, and Alia Velazquez, who will carry forward the values and love she instilled in them. Juana is also survived by her dear sibling Jacobo Gonzalez from Puerto Rico, with whom she shared countless memories and experiences that enriched her life.

Her family and friends will undoubtedly miss her gentle spirit, warmth, and unwavering support. Juana Velazquez leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and creativity that will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
