Judy Faye Rutledge Rice was born on September 13, 1944 and passed away on July 19, 2024.
Faye was the 3rd daughter of Geraldine and Ollie Rutledge. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Van Rice, daughters Cathy Thompson (Jeff), Vicki Adams (Chuck) and Brandy Melton (Natalie). She will forever be known as “Granny Faye” and is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters Fern Hollis (Daniel) and Sheila White and several nieces and nephews.
Faye was predeceased by her Mother Geraldine Rutledge, her father Ollie Rutledge, her son Chris Rice and her sisters Sandra Rutledge, Sue Rutledge, and Nancy Malone, her mother-in-law Effie Rice and multiple brother and sisters-in-laws.
Faye was always known as a fiercely independent, strong woman who loved, accepted, and protected her family unconditionally. Her legacy is the strength that she taught to her children and grandchildren. Faye worked as a supervisor at the Sewell Clothing factory and then she and Van ran their own business for 24 years. She loved working in her yard tending to her flowers, doing puzzles watching game shows, and organizing crazy family Olympics games. She loved to paint and do home improvement projects. Faye was a survivor who fought a terrible degenerative disease for several years. Her family is at peace knowing her suffering is over.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel. Interment will follow at Beulahland Baptist Church.
