Mrs. Julie Catherine Zachmeyer, age 67, of Sandhill-Hickory Level Road, Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at WellStar Douglas Hospital. She was born June 9, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of the late Mr. Vincent State and the late Mrs. Evelyn Dolly State. She married William Duker Zachmeyer on June 26, 1965 in Davenport, Iowa. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton. She retired as a nurse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John State. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William “Bill” Duker Zachmeyer of Carrollton; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Shanda Zachmeyer of Douglasville, Jeff Zachmeyer of Draketown, C.J. and Jennifer Zachmeyer of Carrollton; sisters, Mary Snyder of Rock Island, IL and Evie Doty of Davenport, IA; 9 grandchildren, Tate, Maisie, Cari, Amberlee, Jeffery, Ashlee, Brandon, Cole and Halle; several nieces and nephews also survive. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Monday, January 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM from St. Theresa Catholic Church in Douglasville with Father Rafael Carballo officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Emory University Winship Cancer Center.
