Karen Heather Melton

Ms. Karen Heather Bellew Melton, “Yaya” to her 3 beautiful granddaughters that were her entire world, was born September 15th, 1969 in Atlanta, Georgia. Karen attended the public schools of Douglas County, GA and was a graduate of The Atlanta College of Arts with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art. A brilliant artist, some of Karen’s work was displayed at the Piedmont Art Festival at Piedmont Park in 1986 where it won Best of Show. She also participated in an art exhibition at Agnes College that she was extremely proud of. At an early age Karen accepted Christ into her heart and was Baptized at Mount Harmony Baptist Church. Karen left her worldly home on October 15th, 2024 at 9:07pm to go to her Heavenly home to be in the arms of her Savior. 

Karen was the bright light in the room and had an infectious laugh. She was encouraging, thankful and complementary of each person she came into contact with. Karen truly made a positive difference in every life she touched. 

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her loved ones that she awaits on the banks of Jordan. She is survived by her Life Partner Joshua Crockett, Sons Michael Branden (Kaitlyn) Melton of Anniston, AL; Daniel Lorne (Anndrea) Melton of Douglasville, GA; Granddaughters Ellie Grace, Naomi Delia, and Nora Kate; Parents William (Diane) Bellew of Marietta, GA; Sisters Kelly (Roger) Costner of Ringgold, GA; Rebecca (Robert) Bonnifield of Columbia, TN, Niece Katie Sara Costner, Nephews Taylor Thomas Eubanks, Roger Dale (Trey) Costner, Joshua Garrett Bonnifield and a host of devoted extended family and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life with a viewing of Karen’s artistic works on November 9th, 2024 at Pickett’s Mill Pavilion located at 6589 Hiram Acworth Hwy, Dallas GA, 30157. The event is open for all from 12pm-8pm with Eulogy reading and opportunities for those that would like to speak at 2pm.
