Karen Marie V. Williams

Nov 5, 1942 — Apr 25, 2026

Douglasville, Georgia

Karen Marie V. Williams, passed away peacefully at her home in Douglasville, Georgia, on April 25, 2026. She was born on November 5th on a bright, sunny day in Crystal Falls, Michigan, to the late Mr. Glenn Robert Voelker and the late Mrs. Vivian Spokes Voelker.

Karen embraced life with a spirit that was as enduring as it was vibrant. For more than five decades, she called Douglasville her home. She spent over 20 years as a beloved jewelry specialist at Friedman's Jewelers, a role through which she shared her impeccable taste and warm smile with countless customers. Prior to that, she enriched the minds of young students as a substitute teacher in Douglas County, and before that, she was a telecommunications operator.

Those who knew Karen well will remember her strong will and radiant extroversion. She had a gift for making connections, knowing everyone in her community, and spreading joy wherever she went. She was a loving mother and wife, proud beyond words of her family and her grandchildren. Karen’s home was her sanctuary; she took meticulous care in decorating with an eye for beauty and detail. Her distinctive style was a reflection of the woman herself: spirited, warm, and full of life.

Karen was also a fighter. A courageous cancer survivor, she battled illness with grace and in 2024, she received a special award recognizing her victory over cancer. During those challenging days, one of her greatest comforts was the neighborhood Christmas Carolers who would come by to sing, their voices uplifting her spirits. Her love for celebrations, whether marking her own accomplishments or rejoicing in the successes of others, was a hallmark of her generous soul.

Beyond her family and career, Karen found joy in countless interests. She loved to practice yoga, tend to her garden, and stay active through regular workouts. She loved to sing and she led with laughter, often reminding those around her with her favorite phrase, “Don’t be ridiculous”.

Karen’s leadership extended to the social circles she cherished, notably serving as President of the Tea Club at The Woodie Fite Senior Center, where her warm yet fierce personality comforted many. As we say goodbye to Karen, we honor a woman whose life was a testament to strength, love, and joy. Her memory will continue to brighten the lives she touched, like the sparkle of a finely crafted jewel she so expertly celebrated in her beloved career. She is deeply missed, yet forever held dear in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Keith Williams; daughter, Brandie Gresham; sister, Barbara Snyder; brother, David Voelker; grandchildren, McKenzie Gresham, and Genevieve Pitts; and son-in-law, Kenneth Pitts.

In accordance with her wishes, Karen was cremated. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
