Katherine Denise Preston

Katherine “Kat” Denise Preston, 69, of Douglasville, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025. She was born on April 23, 1955, the daughter of the late Grady Newton Hanson and the late Mary Nell “MeMa” Barronton.

Katherine was a remarkable individual whose personality shone brightly through her selflessness and kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother, nana, sister and friend. She cherished her time with her grandchildren the most. She always possessed a positive outlook on life that inspired those around her.

She was an avid runner and Katherine participated in the Peachtree Road Race for ten years, while also engaging in numerous local road races. Her passion for running brought her immense joy. Katherine had a profound love for cooking and baking, a hobby that she embraced wholeheartedly.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Hanson and Dorsey Hanson; sister, Annice Murawski.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Alan Preston; daughters, Deanna Jarrett, Sabrina Jarrett, Amanda (Jonathan) Wilding, Victoria Preston, and Kaitlyn Preston; sons, Michael Jarrett, and Shawn (Jessica) Preston; sister Danita Harris; eleven grandchildren, Cody (Jeni) Newman, Jordan Jarrett, Madison Jarrett, Ethan Wilding, Emmett Wilding, Felicity Wilding, Sophia Maclary, Alaina Preston, Brian Preston, Michael Plunkett, and Landon Plunkett; one great-grandchild, Isla Newman.

In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated. There are no further arrangements at this time.
