Katherine Ruby Giles Byrd

Mrs. Katherine Ruby Giles Byrd, age 84, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020. She was born February 23, 1936 in Jonesboro, Georgia, the daughter of the late James Otis Giles and the late Annie Ruth Shipp. She retired from Williams Realty Company in Rome, Georgia in association with the HUD program. Mrs. Byrd had several hobbies but the one she enjoyed the most was sending cards. She liked to make people happy in whatever she did. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Keith Pritchett. She is survived by her husband, Jack K. Byrd; her children, John Kenneth Pritchett and his wife, Laurie, Jack K. Byrd, Jr and his friend, Crissey and Kim and Jeff Knudson; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. According to Mrs. Byrd's wishes, she will be cremated. The family will receive friends at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2433 Brownsville Road, Powder Springs, Georgia, Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. Memorial Services will be conducted at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2:00PM with Dr. Tony McCain and Jimmy Pritchett officiating.
